Winding Down Virginia Wine Month

October has come to an end, and so has the official celebration of Virginia Wine Month.  How did I close out the week of Virginia Wine Month?

  1. Wine Club Pick Up at Delaplane Cellars

I decided to take advantage of a glorious autumn day last Friday to pick up my club wines from Delaplane Cellars.  I did a tasting while I was there and took in the lovely weather and mountain landscape.

Halloween greetings from Delaplane Cellars! It was a delightful autumn day.
I tasted a flight of wines while I was there. Aitheras, a white blend, is always a crowd pleaser at parties.
I tend to entertain quite a bit, especially with the holidays around the corner. Guests will sometimes ask for Viognier, and I was able to sample the current release from Delaplane Cellars. A bottle came home with me.

2. Completed my Virginia Wine Month Passport

I completed my Virginia Wine Month Passport with tastings at 8 Chains North Winery and Williams Gap Vineyard.  I earned my last stamp at Williams Gap and turned in my passport.  Will I win a prize?

I continued the Virginia Wine Month Flight at the four participating wineries. This was the flight at 8 Chains North.
I enjoyed the 2023 Cabernet Franc from 8 Chains North that was part of the flight. I also earned a third stamp! One more to go.
Yay! I picked up my last stamp at Williams Gap. Of course, I did a tasting there too.

3. Served Virginia Wines at my Halloween Party

I hosted a Halloween Party on October 30th, and of course, I served Virginia wines.  These are some of the wines that I selected for my guests to enjoy with a menu that included seafood gumbo, jambalaya, macaroni and cheese, Italian cocktail meatballs, and cheeses.

White wine options included Blanc de Blanc from Williams Gap Vineyard, VX2 from Rappahanock Cellars, Vidal Blanc from Williams Gap Vineyard, and Wabi Sabi from Linden.
I really liked Walsh Family’s Arcoiris with the Cajun food. It’s a blend of Noirette and Viognier. 2021 Adjacency from Delaplane Cellars and 2023 Cabernet Franc from Capstone were red wine options that were also food friendly.
I was Zorro at the Halloween Party. I also enjoyed a glass of the 2023 Cabernet Franc from Capstone as I zipped my sword through the air.

I enjoyed celebrating Virginia Wine Month, and I think every month should be Virginia Wine Month! How did you finish out the last weeks of this fun celebration?  Let me know in the comments.  In the meantime, plan to taste or serve wines from the Virginia wineries mentioned in this post.  Mention that Virginia Wine Time sent you.
